Topic: Who Is God? Knowing God Accurately
Anchor Verse:
“Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
1 Corinthians 8:6
Introduction
Many people seek to know God, but not all have an accurate understanding of Him. Some view Him as distant, others as only judgmental or purely loving. But who is He really?
Today, we will explore:
- God’s nature
- His plan for humanity
- Satan’s agenda
- How to truly know Him
I. Who Is God? Understanding His Nature
1. God as Creator: He is the source of all things (Genesis 1:1).
2. God as Father: He seeks a personal relationship with humanity (Romans 8:15).
3. God as Sovereign: He reigns supreme over all creation (Psalm 103:19).
4. God as Redeemer: His love was fully revealed through Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
All the aforementioned natures point to his “Love” for mankind.
II. God’s Plan for Humanity Since Creation
• God created man in His image to reflect His glory and have dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26).
• Despite the fall, God’s plan remained intact redemption through Jesus (Romans 5:12-21).
• Through Christ, believers are restored and given authority to fulfill His purpose (Ephesians 2:4-6).
III. Satan’s Agenda: Satan is Not God’s Opposite, But the Enemy!
• Satan’s Fall: He was a created being who rebelled against God (Isaiah 14:12-15).
• He is not equal to God; rather, he opposes man – God’s image-bearer.
• His tactics: deception, temptation, and accusation to steal the God given abilities (dominion & authority) of the believers (John 8:44).
• Believers must recognize this truth and stand firm in their identity in Christ (Luke 10:19).
IV. Ways to Know God Accurately
1. Through Scripture: His Word reveals His nature (2 Timothy 3:16).
2. Through Jesus Christ: Christ is the exact representation of God (John 14:9).
3. Through the Holy Spirit: The Spirit guides believers into truth (John 16:13).
4. Through Prayer & Worship: Seeking God through devotion (Jeremiah 29:13).
5. Through Obedience & Faith: Walking with God reveals His nature (James 1:22).
6. Through Creation: Nature testifies to His existence (Romans 1:20).
Thank you for an amazing session today, and see you next month as we look through the life of Jesus!
Remain blessed.
